Help Rodney and Kylee Make Every Mile Count!
Accelerate the fight against ALS with Target ALS!
We are Rodney and Kylee Dial, and we live in Palo Alto, California. We were first introduced to the realities of ALS when Kylee was pregnant with our second child, and we became friends with another couple, Jeni and Stephen, who were also expecting a baby boy. When we met, Stephen was several years into an ALS diagnosis (he was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 27), and losing more and more mobility. We were impressed with how both of them handled the difficult hand they were dealt, and we all shared in the baby excitement together.
Soon, our babies were born in 2018 and quickly became best little friends. Kylee and Jeni have spent the last six years carpooling to preschool/tee ball practices/swim lessons, playing at the playground, and eating countless delicious meals together. Stephen and Rodney share a love of the Warriors and are happy to watch just about any sporting event together.
“Our love of New York City dates back more than 15 years ago to our early days of dating in college. As we plotted out our lives together, one thing was for sure – we wanted to live in New York City.
While our paths instead took us to Chicago and then the Bay Area (and the joyful – and wild – addition of three little boys), we have decided that 2024 is the year that our East Coast goal will become reality. We are officially moving to New York City in June for a year, and cannot wait to eat countless slices of pizza and walk miles upon miles each day.
We share a love of running together and have always dreamed of running one of the most iconic races in the world: the New York City Marathon. We felt so lucky to be introduced to Target ALS, an innovative medical research foundation committed to the search for effective treatments for ALS. The opportunity to raise money and awareness for ALS, a disease that plagues one of our closest friends, as we train for and run for this race is so meaningful. We cannot wait to cross the finish line in November (with a slice of pizza to celebrate, of course!)”
